In 2014, I was in a coffee shop and an artist approached me. He told me he drew people how he would see them in the future. The left is the drawing he made of me. A locket rests along the neck, with a “maternal figure”. I never met this man before, and he knew the connection of my mother and I without any words. The figure on the right is my mom in the ‘80s. The irony of how similar these figures are, and how the figure of the locket replicates my mother’s pose just reinforces my cyclical theory of time.
